Knife Crime: Sheffield Stained Steel

The medium is the message to create a campaign for the city
of Sheffield about the dangers of carrying a knife.

Knife crime is a growing problem in Sheffield, with overall figures showing it has almost doubled since 2012. There has been a significant rise with young people being involved in knife crime, whether being an offender or victim. There are concerns within our communities that the police don’t have the resources to respond to the situation.

I created this sculpture to be placed in public spaces, to get people to look at the effects of carrying a knife. With the steel outline of the victim combined with lesser known facts about the evidence of why carrying knife affects the victim and offender.

I'm a student at Sheffield Hallam currently in my final year looking for possible internships, junior designer roles and freelance work.
